Handbook of Terminology

Manual de Terminología
Manual de Terminologia
전문용어학 입문
دليـل المصطلحية

This document was originally written in French by Silvia Pavel and Diane Nolet and adapted into English by Christine Leonhardt. The Handbook is also available in Spanish, Portuguese, Korean and Arabic.

The Handbook of Terminology provides new terminologists with the information they will need to practice their profession, regardless of the area of specialization in which they may be called upon to work. It was designed and organized with a view to giving easy access to the key aspects of terminology work and to providing a guide to the steps that must be taken to deliver a product to users of specialized terminology.

The material presented in this Handbook was carefully selected in order to clearly identify problems commonly encountered in the practice of the profession, and to suggest solutions with the support of many examples. Language professionals hired by communications, writing or translation services to carry out terminology research will find information on work procedures and tools, as well as on the types of products that can be created and delivered.

To complement the Handbook of Terminology, please consult the on-line interactive tutorial in terminology, The Pavel Terminology Tutorial.
